Cookie Monster

Zara & I baked cookies together last Monday at 12 midnight. I know she should be in bed, but she insisted on staying so she could help tasting the cookies. Well, i do need a cookie tester, so i allowed her to accompany me.

First batch in the oven

So excited, she just stayed in front of the oven for a good 10 minutes

Almost done

Done! we manage to get a full jar of cookies together!

As of today, the jar is half full. I have to bake some more for Raya cookies.

Hospitalised

On 28th June 2012, one week before final exam starts:

Zara and I was admitted to the hospital, due to dehydration. We vomited every 3 minutes, can't hold anything down. At least, Zara had some appetite she ate ice cream, chocolates, KFC and jellies but vomited everything out before being admitted, while yours truly lost her appetite.

This is the front view from my bed. Nice mickey mouse wallpaper kan? i was admitted side by side with Zara at the Paed ward. One of the nurse came in to check Zara and asked me "Akak, kenapa warded kat Paed?". Cik Nurse...saya memang mintak Paed ward ni sbb minat ngn decor bilik ni and ade wallpaper mickeymouse! LOL! i  wish i said that, but of course i didn't i am too weak to speak...i just pointed at Zara and said "itu anak akak la". Cik Nurse terkejut, "...anak ke? ingat adik." *rolling eyes...abis tu, why called me akak?*

See the decor behind Zara bed? i didn't have that behind me! not fair!

Kids, they recover a lot faster than adult. See the post. This is Day 2! I am half recovered and was discharged the next day. This girl, was discharged 3 days later. Doctor just wanted to take extra money out of us... caution because she's a toddler.

Last day, posed with baby brother before being discharged.

Both of us got a stomach bug. We were infected from DH who gotten it first (diarrhea for 2 days), followed by Khaleef (vomits & diarrhea), then followed by yours truly & Zara with lots of puking. We were the fallen angels. LOL! both DH & Khaleef recovered within 2 days.

Salam Ramadhan 2012

It's Day 4 of Ramadhan:) Been busy for the last few weeks before Ramadhan - Hospitalisation, final exams, wedding receptions and visiting DH's Kampung. I'll get to that in my next posts.
During my finals, Zara been begging for a rainbow cake and cookies. So, i decided to bake a rainbow for her yesterday.

I should be making this for her, but at daytime during fasting hour...it's really tiring to bake a 6 layer..

So, i opted for this rainbow cake instead...i think i should call it a Paddlepop Cake. Just look at the batter, i love the colors. Really, we should call it a Paddlepop Cake:

Fresh from the oven:

Topped it with Chocolate Ganache:

Up close, when you sliced it, it looked like this:

Zara is happy with the outcome. I thought, baking is going to be fun when my own kids love cakes.

But, mind you not EVERY cake is preferred.

Both dislike my chocolate cake (that's a big OUCH!), hates cheese cake-fair lady cake-banana cake-red velvet cake-oreo cheesecake-fruit cake.

They only love my butter cake. *sigh*

Now, one left on the list is her chocolate chip cookie.

DH and I love murtabak daging. I think everyone does, especially during Ramadhan. It's the most sought after delicacy at bazaar ramadhan. It was such a disappointment last Sunday, when my little brother bought a murtabak which was half cooked-less meat-instead-they filled it with lost of onions, eggs and potatoes!

So, i decided to make a homemade beef murtabak myself yesterday. Guess what? it was a success! Licin pinggan. Luckily, i frozen 4 pieces in case it turns out good.

It's not easy to make a murtabak..the filling was super easy BUT kneading the dough for a soft outer layer is a hardwork. I salute you roti canai and murtabak maker.

*drooling* sebab teringat-ingat

Zara & Malay Telemovie

I believed some of you do watch malay telemovie right? kan? kan?
I do.
I happened to watch this telemovie 'Berpaling dari Jannahmu' at ASTRO, at my parents house.
By the way, my mom's the one switching on to that telemovie because of Ogy Ahmad Daud (Mom), Nasir Bilal Khan (Dad) and Mia Sara (Daughter) is on the screen.
Zara also joined in to watch the movie.

Synopsis:  Mom & Dad were married for 10 yrs without child. One nite mom cried during her prayers begging for a child - she'll do absolute everything and anything to take care of the child. So, eventually, she got pregnant and delivered a baby girl. The girl is mia sara. The telemovie fast forwarded to went the daughter is 4 yo (the ever energized full of curiosity and experimenting age). The mom is a neat freak, so she will lost her temper whenever the daughter messed up the house. So, to cut the story short..her mom really lost her temper one day, grabbed her daughter's head in anger while venting her anger. The daughter was scared..she ran out from the house and got hit by a car in front of the house. The daughter died. Mom went crazy.

I am touched by the story...not really because the girl got hit by a car.
But, i was shocked...when Zara looked at me, with glassy eyes when the girl got hit by a car and the mother cried out loud hugging her daughter's body.
I wonder whether, she understands what had happened? but, i doubt it because she didn't cry.
I waited and checked if she's disturbed by the story, but she continued to watch until advertisement.
So, during advertisement, i got up and went to the room to pray.
Suddenly, i heard her crying aloud. My mom got out from her room and was confused as to why Zara cried.

I guess i knew why she cried, i quickly went to her and asked her, why is she crying? she hugged me while crying and said.."dak tu..jatuh....langgar...kete".
OMG!! it hit me at that time...she could understand!!!
It took me 10 minutes to calm her down.
Eventhough, my  mom's the one switching the programme from DJNR to that telemovie, but ends up Zara & me watching it, because my mom went in to sleep. That's the answer to why my mom was confused.

Perhaps...i shouldn't let her watch that movie.
Pity her having to deal with such emotion at a tender age.
I told her it was just a movie, but..it might happened to anyone..if one ran out from the house without assistance &without looking if there's a car coming before crossing. *i guess...she's touched by the movie because she has the habit of running out from the gate, and i would be screaming like a crazy woman and running after her.
At least, I hope, she knew and remember..why her mom act all crazy shouting after her, when she zoomed out of the gate house like that.

P/S: I am not going to let Zara watch that kind of malay telemovie after this.

It's MAY 2012!!!

*cobwebs everywhere..

It's spring cleaning time!
This blog was left unattended for almost a year, counting from my last entry on Mother's day 2011, and it's Mother's day again in 2012.

Poor blog.. My mistake, i've totally forgotten about this blog ever since my life became topsy turvy.
Well, i'm BAAAAAACKK!!!
I'm happy to be able to blog again;D

Happy Mother's Day to angel mommies and all mommies in the world.
Compared to year 2011, i think this year is the best Mother's Day so far...and i believed my two kids would agree (oh well, 95% in agreement), simply because their everyday wish became a reality.
Oh yes, Zara & Khaleef, mama is here every single second to torture both of u to eat your veges, pick up your toys and belongings after playing, make sure u brush your teeth day and night, strapped in the car seat every time we go out, eat healthily - that means less sweets more fruits and healthy food!!!
There were several times, Zara became furious when i refused to let her do her way or refused to tolerate her whims..she said "mama worklah, abah jaga kakak!". Hahaha..kids!
Lesson to be learned: next time kids, be careful of what u wish for. LOL.

 ...
That's it for now.
I'm brain freeze.
This is what u get if u don't blog for a year;p

Crochet Hat for Zara

Most people especially strangers who met me and Khaleef would say that Khaleef is a GIRL!! (Eventhough he wore a blue romper printed with cars or a superman logo pun people will asked "a girl ke?")
Kesian dia, budak jambu.
I bought a crochet hat for Zara and tried it on Khaleef.
Let's see whether he likes it or not?

err...mama are you sure this is mine??

How to get this thing off my head?

...Huwaaa...TAKE IT OFF!!!!!

Ok..he didn't fancy the crochet hat. Hehehe.

Wordy Wednesday

Jungle Gym
Bangsar Shopping Centre

We went to Jungle Gym a few weeks before Zara reached 2 years old, because it's f.o.c for child below 2 years old!!! LOL..yeah such a cheapskate parents we are. Whatever, i love free stuff especially when per entry would costs RM22 (weekdays) or RM28 (Weekend).

We both took leave just to have fun with our beloved daughter. We played for about 2 hours non stop, which left us exhausted at the end of the day. Kaki macam nak patah and tangan as well due to carrying my heavyweight Khaleef. There were slides (we love the slides!), Trampoline, Ball Pools, Rope Walk, Air Guns, and many more. Your kids definitely will love it and truth is parents enjoyed it as well, because you have to accompany your kids especially kids below 2 years of age. In other words it means you can play for free too:)))))

Let the pictures below tell the rest of the story...

2 yrs old Zara

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my girl, Zara!
Gotta get u a yummy beautiful buttercream cupcake today as ur aunties and uncles finished up ur rainbow cake while mama is not around.
It just feel weird not to have a cake on ur birthday, eventho we have celebrated it early.
Even a cupcake will do.
Kesian Zara x dpt abiskan rainbow cake, anyway..her poop is purple coloured last Monday. LOL! Must be due to the colouring.

Love u much Zara!
XOXO

P/S: Ibu Yatt is in the hospital right now, struggling to pop out a baby sister for u on ur birthday! A perfect gift kan? U are gonna have 2 baby sisters to bully play with.

I'll bake a thousand rainbows for her

Continuing where i left from my last entry..
Nope, we didn't celebrate Zara's 2nd birthday at SJMC as her dad refused to celebrate her daughter's birthday there.
So, we celebrate at home with four of us witnessed by my amused dad.

Here's the pic of my birthday girl who refused to blow the candle, she just smiled and successfully dipped her finger on the icing. Haih!

Owh..my cake is a a Pisa Tower cake, see..senget a bit. Lol.

This is how Zara's rainbow cake looks like...

Tadaaa...

Vibrant colours kan? Love the colours so much..

And, this is how she celebrate her 2 yrs. Get to eat a cake on her own. Zara simply refused to be spoon fed. She enjoyed eating the cake on her own.

The best thing is, she loves the cake! With every bite she said "dap..dap.." whilst nodding her head several times. Hahahaha.

She's like a Rainbow

I'm so excited and i cudn't sleep.
I made this rainbow cake for Zara. It's for her early 2nd birthday party. That is today!
It's a shame we have to celebrate it early because i have to attend a conference this weekend.
At first, i planned to order this cake from ga-teaux. But, she was'nt available to bake Zara's rainbow cake:(
So, i decided to bake one for Zara! It took me about 7 hours and luckily Khaleef is such a cooperative good boy tonite as if he knew mommy's has a big project to complete.
It has 6 layers - red, orange, yellow, green,
blue and purple.
Ya..i know rainbow has 7 colors, but i can't find any indigo colouring in store..
Zara loves buttercake and buttercream frosting instead of chocolate cake.
I hope she likes my rainbow cake.
Auntie Ya, Unc Adam, Adib and Zara's Grandma will not be around today, they have to be at Sjmc as early as 7am for Auntie Ya's minor surgery:(
I know..why not we bring the party to Sjmc instead after the surgery!
Ok..i need to sleep now...it's 5am, or else i wudn't be able to get up at 7am.

P/S: We decided to make Zara's 2nd birthday as a family only celebration, however we will throw an invitation for Khaleef' 1st birthday in Nov 2011.
